From Billy’s Auntie
On July 8, 2012, Minko surprised me with a baby! Minko left her adorable reddish, furry baby with the herd family and came right up to see her Auntie and get her carrot treats. Her baby approached slowly, cautiously, but was too timid to come right up to a stranger…not yet knowing I was her Auntie too. But, Minko had no problem with the baby coming up to me, which is remarkable for bison moms. What a beautiful baby she has, and Minko is the picture of perfect bison health. I do not know yet if we have a boy or a girl. All that matters is that Billy lives on!
The proud father, Brutus, is one of the most perfect bison specimens, equal to the magnificent giants in Yellowstone Park and he also carries 100% pure bison DNA. He weighs in at about 2500 lbs and stands at around 7ft. I had told Minko about 9 months ago, that she didn’t have to rush into parenthood, but being the beautiful bison girl that she is, Brutus just couldn’t help himself, and being the incredible beast that he is, she couldn’t resist. Today I thought about how happy Billy would have been, knowing that Minko had such a perfect, glorious mate and that there is a new baby bison to love.
But then again, Billy knows.

Brutus, the proud, majestic father. There were 10 new baby bison born to his herd, causing the term, “Et tu Brute?” to take on another meaning….
In July 2014, Minko blessed us with a baby boy, Buffalo Billy Jr. While there will never be another precious Billy, a grandson will surely carry on his and Minko’s loving and open ways and gentle spirit. Billy is joyfully looking on.

Tears of joy. The pics are great. So happy for you all.
Too cute.
